About IBM CommonStore

IBM CommonStore provides total email and document archive management capabilities. It provides automated policy driven and user driven archive capabilities and easy retrieval from the standard client user interface. Once archiving policies are defined and implemented, you can tackle major problem areas created by the rapid growth of messaging systems - performance issues, increasing storage requirements, operational difficulties, compliance, and regulatory email recordkeeping issues.

CommonStore enables administrators and end users to archive emails, attachments, or entire folders from Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino databases to a shared repository for secure, long term storage. You can also archive file attachments separately from originating messages, a very useful function given that attachments can easily represent 80% of the storage in mail applications.

The IBM solution is modular and scalable in its approach. It is designed to evolve and grow with the business needs and drivers of an organisation. CommonStore can evolve into a corporate wide Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution managing all unstructured data (e.g. paper, faxes, office documents, forms), since the Enterprise Content Management technologies are offered as a back-end archive management system (IBM Content Manager).
