Mark Grout, Projects and Applications Manager, John Wiley & Sons

Despite the strict budget, we were able to provide rapidly expanding publisher John Wiley with a system that could easily capture and store large volumes of paper based content. This enabled team collaboration, efficiency and gave productivity a boost.

The Business Problem

When they acquired Blackwell Publishing, John Wiley and Sons faced a dramatic increase in the volume of paper-based content they had to store long term.

Unfortunately, their existing Enterprise Content Management software was not up to the job – it was slow, unreliable and required a great deal of administration.

Neocol were the only company able to come up with a cost effective solution.

Our Solution

We worked hard to understand the issues and design a new system within the financial limitations, using existing software licenses to help reduce costs.

The final market-leading solution combined Kofax document capture, Kodak scanners, IBM Content Manager and a custom-built web-front end to give the company an intuitive capture and storage system. We also helped swiftly migrate existing content, smoothly implement the system and actively support it on an ongoing basis.

Project Successes

  • Users can now access documents such as important royalty contracts, from any location worldwide
  • There’s little need for recovery or system administration
  • Users have reported productivity gains
  • Despite working in different sites, teams have been able to collaborate easily
  • The volume of paperworkhas dramatically decreased

Wiley also feel the solution has provided excellent value for money.

Another example of how Neocol can help you solve content management problems, providing technical capability without complexity, all at a reasonable cost.
